About Us - Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging

We are the Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging (W4A) serving the 82 county and tribal aging units in Wisconsin. We provide information, training, and technical assistance to county and tribal aging units who support and serve older people in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging is made up of three area agencies on aging -- the Area Agency on Aging of Dane County, the Milwaukee County Department on Aging, and the Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources.  W4A advocates on behalf of the local aging agencies to ensure that needed resources and support services are available to older Americans. The area agencies on aging are responsible for funding, coordinating and monitoring the older adult services that are provided by county and tribal aging offices throughout Wisconsin.

The fundamental mission of the local aging offices is to provide services which make it possible for older individuals to remain in their home, thereby preserving their independence and dignity. County and tribal aging offices coordinate and support a wide range of home-and community-based services including information and referral, home-delivered and congregate meals, transportation, employment services, senior centers, and adult day care. They provide assistance and guidance to families, caregivers, providers of services, elected officials, businesses, and the community.

County and Tribal Aging Offices can be your first stop for help.  Every county and tribe has an aging unit to serve older adults in Wisconsin.

For this website, the Wisconsin Association of Area Agencies on Aging has contracted with the Family Caregiver Support Network of Interfaith Older Adult Programs in Milwaukee to link older adults and their family caregivers to aging information and resources in their own communities.

Funding for this website is provided by the Older Americans Act – Title IIIE the National Family Caregiver Support Program.
